Details of our kitchen table

Over a year ago I wanted to change our breakfast bar in the kitchen to a "regular" table. Regular not being the right word as we made a L-shaped table top out of MDF, built around a kitchen unit.
By the time my husband thought the end of the whole project was finally in sight, I had a Eureka moment... I wanted to incorporate something to put some flowers in.

He drilled 5 large holes, a bit larger than the test tubes I had lying around and now use as little vases.
The table is lit from beneath by led lights which gives a funny effect through the glass of the tubes, as you can see.

So now I have fresh flowers year round at my dining table without having a vase taking up space.
